Getting married, getting a full time job, and becoming a pro athlete with Chelsea Alexander

Chelsea Alexander played softball at Oklahoma State and is now playing for the Oklahoma City Spark in the WPF. Chelsea has her bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications and she just graduated with her master’s in business administration. She is engaged to Clay Fitzgerald and they will be married in June. In her free time she enjoys volunteering, such as the Chilly Cowboy fundraiser she started.

You can listen to the podcast on Spotify, Anchor or Apple Podcasts.

Below are the questions that she answered in the podcast:

Do you feel like you would have done a different degree if you weren’t a student-athlete?

What was the process with signing to play professional softball?

What was one of your favorite moments while competing?

What has the transition out of playing college softball been like so far for you?

What do you anticipate retiring from softball to be like?

Are you or someone you know currently struggling with what happens in life after sports? Or did you already go through that transition to life after retiring competitive sports and wish you had more resources and support? Have you ever wondered, “what do athletes do after they are done playing sports? What’s next after sports?” Do you feel like you dedicated so much to your sport and you don’t know what to do now that you’re done competing? You’re not alone.
